Neue PC Cards für ultra-dünne Notebooks

In Zukuft wird die weite Verbreitung ultra-dünner Notebooks die Typ II PC Card und den USB-Formfaktor zu essentiellen Komponenten moderner Verbindungen via ISDN, GSM oder Ethernet machen.
Dazu kommentierte Rob Price, Product Marketing Manager bei Psion Dacom, comments: "The notebook computer industry is moving towards smaller, lighter weight form factors. We have started to see single Type II PC Card slots and USB ports replace the bulky Type III and RS232 serial ports. The user needs to be equipped with a range of fixed and mobile connectivity options and the Gold Card family of CardBus and PCMCIA PC Cards is the natural partner for modern notebook mobility.

Das Flaggschiff unter den Typ II PC-Cards von Psion Dacom ist die Gold Card NetGlobal 56k +10/100 Card Bus, die nicht nur Hochgeschwindigkeitsverbindungen zu Desktop-Computern bereitstellt, sondern auch ein große Palette an GSM Handys unterstützt, darunter das Ericsson T28s und das Motorola L7089. Neben der Eignung für Windows 2000 kann die Karte auch USDN unterstützen, das in Europe immer weitere Verbreitung genießt.
